“Managing Risks for Peace and Stability”

DATE: 5 March 2018

TIME: 4:00pm – 5:30pm

VENUE: World Bank Headquarters, Washington DC

Ustadh Nurudeen Lemu, Director, Research and Training of the Da’wah Institute of Nigeria, with 6 other panelists would be addressing some of the key questions and challenges confronting development actors, where answers and solutions are critical to maximizing the impact of development institutions in reducing violent extremism and thus securing development gains in fragile and conflict-affected states.

These include:

b) coordination among the growing number of PVE stakeholders across the development, diplomacy, and defense divides

c) the development of a shared understanding of the drivers of violent extremism and an integrated approach to problem diagnosis and appropriate solutions;

d) the appropriate balance between engaging national governments, including those who are fomenting violent extremism themselves, and local actors;

e) monitoring and evaluation and sharing data on “what works” and “what doesn’t”;

f) the segments of the population that need priority attention; g) the inconsistent use of the “PVE” label; and

g) how best to align development, diplomatic, and security interventions in order to reduce levels of violent extremism
